How are teachers being recruited, educated and supported to work in Catholic schools?


Members of the Scottish Catholic community - parents, teachers, clergy - are invited to discuss these issues at a meeting of the CATHOLIC EDUCATION COMMISSION which provides a forum for discussing significant aspects of Catholic education.

Contributors will include:

- Ken Muir, Chief Executive of the General Teaching Council of Scotland

- Michael McGrath, Director of the Scottish Catholic Education Service

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

By Bus:
The No 5 from North Bridge (at the east end of Princes Street) stops at the gate.

The Nos. 24 & 41 go to Marchmont Road. Strathearn Road is at the traffic lights, Turn right into Strathearn Road and walk to Gillis (5 minutes on foot).

The Nos. 11,15,16,27,27,45 from Princes Street and Lothian Road go to Bruntsfield Links, walk down Whitehouse Loan to the Strathearn Road junction (traffic lights) and turn left to the Gillis Centre. (5 minutes on foot).

By Car:

Gillis is located in Bruntsfield on the south side of the city centre, so easily accessed from the Edinburgh Bypass. From the Bypass turn off at the Lothianburn Road exit, towards the city centre. You travel along Comiston Road and Morningside Road (a shopping area).
At the top of Morningside Road, at traffic lights, just after Waitrose, turn right into Church Hill. This leads into Strathearn Place. Go straight ahead at the traffic lights, into Strathearn Road and the Gillis Centre is just on the left (high wall and entrance gates).

There are a few spaces for private parking avialble on a first-come first-served basis. There are on-street parking spaces on Strathearn Road.
